Rebecca Goldberg is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) who specializes in treating mental health issues across the lifespan. Ms. Goldberg is currently licensed in the states of Virginia and Maryland.
Ms. Goldberg works with children, adolescents and adults in various therapy settings, including individual, group and family psychotherapy. She specializes in treatment of individuals and families impacted by autism spectrum disorders (ASD), ADHD, learning disabilities, developmental delays, sensory integration challenges, social skill deficits, behavioral difficulties, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, trauma histories including but not limited to neglect, sexual, and physical abuse, adjustment disorders, self-esteem issues, grief and loss, anger management, and parent-child relational issues.
Ms. Goldberg is a member of the National Association for Social Workers (NASW), Greater Washington Society for Clinical Social Workers (GWSCSW), Washington Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology (WSPP), International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD), and Association for Play Therapy (APT). Ms. Goldberg holds a certification in Trauma-Informed Clinical Practice as well as advanced training in play therapy modalities. Ms. Goldberg is currently expanding her skills to include Ego State Therapy, Somatic Imagery as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) anticipated in 2019.
Ms. Goldberg has experience working with children, adolescents and families impacted by the adoption and foster care system, domestic violence, special education, residential treatment, juvenile court system, homelessness and transitional housing, and mental health hospitalization.
Ms. Goldberg has specialized training and experience in Child-Centered Play Therapy, Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), Play Therapy, Filial Therapy, DIR/Floortime, Sand Tray, Psychodynamic Therapy, Behavior Therapy, Social Skills, Expressive Therapies including art and music and yoga training for special needs individuals..
